Running out of disk space

Symptoms

In the Print&Share CQ log you receive the message There is not enough space on the disk.. Files are being processed but generated with a size of 0KB.

45cf4a44106a: Chnl 1 File: Error occured while executing Chnl. There is not enough space on the disk.

Cause

The Operating System does not have enough space to operate. This could either because of Print&Share CQ occupying all disk space or an external application on the operating system causing this.

Resolution

We are going to share some settings that you might want to check on the server but again an external application could also cause this.

Sent items

Sent items are stored on disk, this could be disabled or clean-up interval could be changed.

  1. Log in to the admin panel of Print&Share CQ as an administrator using a web browser .
  2. Navigate to Monitor > All Data > All sent items.
  3. Click the Settings button in the upper-right.

In the Sent items settings we can choose to disable the Keep file of the original printed job. or we can set the Clean up sent items older than: option to a shorter time interval.

Change the Shared application folder

  1. Log in to the admin panel of Print&Share CQ as an administrator using a web browser .
  2. Navigate to Manage > System Setup > System settings.
  3. For Cluster Settings change the Shared application folder: to a performant shared network drive with enough disk space.

This is the location where documents are stored for the internal working and processing of jobs in Print&Share CQ.

Use MS SQL Server

In case you are using LocalDB (default), and your database takes too much disk space you can use a dedicated server with MS SQL Server. A free version of MS SQL Server Express is available from Microsoft.

To change to MS SQL Server, go to:

  1. Log in to the admin panel of Print&Share CQ as an administrator using a web browser .
  2. Navigate to Manage > System Setup > System settings.
  3. And change the settings next to Database connection:.
