Print a document from two trays

In this case, we print by one click the whole document two times by taking the paper from two different trays.

In the example we will take once the document from paper source Tray 1 and once from paper source Tray 2.

By following this example you will learn how to use the Paper source feature.

Print&Share configuration

Please follow the steps to build this case:

  1. Create a new profile containing a channel with print functionality.
  2. Go to the channel configuration by clicking on the printer icon.
  3. Click on the Page definitions... button.
  4. Click Add to add a new condition line.
    1. In the Range-tab, select All pages to select all pages of your document.
    2. Click OK to close the dialog.
  5. Click Add to add a second condition
    1. In the Range-tab, select All pages to select all pages of your document.
    2. Click OK to close the dialog.
  6. Select the first condition line and set the Paper Source to Tray 1 to get this page range out of tray 1.
  7. Select the second condition line and set the Paper Source to Tray 2 to get this page range out of tray 2.
  8. At the bottom, change Order pages by: to Extra pages sorted by page ranges (R1{1,2} R2{1,2}, ...)

  9. Close the dialogs by clicking the OK buttons.

An alternative way to solve this problem could be using two channels with print functionality and specifying in each channel a different paper source. This will not allow you to staple the two documents, as each channel is a separate print job.

For the Order pages by: setting, if you select the option No extra pages (1, 2, 3, ...) in this case, a distint of the page ranges will be used so that no duplicate pages occur.
For example: you have added two conditions: Range 1-3 and Range 2-4.
With the No extra pages-option the resulting output pages will be: 1,2,3,4.
Using this option will not result in 1,2,2,3,3,4.
